Dr. Morris worked full-time for SRHC for nearly 15 years. During this time, he saw therapy and testing patients at Veridian Behavioral Health. In 2013, he founded a nationally accredited doctoral psychology internship that has attracted high-quality future psychologists to the area. Several of these psychologists have made Salina their home after their formal training was complete (including Dr. Warbinton). Dr. Morris continues to act as the Director of the SRHC Psychology Internship.
Dr. Morris works with all ages, but his niche includes working with children, teens, and adults with long-standing problems. His clinical therapy style emphasizes the patient’s growth process and inherent drive towards health. He believes that good therapy is not merely reducing symptoms but helping the patient experience the “zest” of life. In other words, the main goal of therapy should be to help people thrive not just survive. Whether dealing with individuals, couples, families or groups, he integrates clinically effective treatment with a respectful, compassionate relational style.
In addition to psychotherapy, Dr. Morris conducts psychological testing to help other mental health practitioners or physicians determine the exact nature of a person’s psychological makeup. He has done extensive training in the Rorschach Inkblot method and other aspects of personality testing. He has created a online site to help further training in the Rorschach as well: The Blot Spot. He is actively involved in the Society for Personality Assessment.
To relax, Dr. Morris enjoys playing or watching sports, cooking, traveling, and hanging out with his family and friends. He is also involved in teaching an adult Sunday school class at his church.
