BIO
Angela is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She completed her Masters of Nursing degree with honors from Walden University, and has a specialty of Psychiatric Mental Health across the lifespan. Angela has also completed her practicum rotation at Salina Regional Behavioral Health inpatient facility as well as Veridian Behavioral Health outpatient setting. She is experienced to treat a wide range of mental and behavioral health conditions in children, adolescents, and adults.
Angela's nursing career has prepared her to provide excellent and comprehensive care. She has worked her way up through the profession over the past 16 years beginning as a CNA and advancing step by step to her MSN degree. She has gained a variety of nursing experience working in mental health, med/surg, ICU, college nursing instructor, and home health case manager.
Angela has always been enthusiastic, caring, and motivated to provide and advocate for her patients. However, it was when she was employed for two years at Larned State Psychiatric Hospital that she found her passion and calling for mental health care. Angela strives to improve each individual's mental health, while guarding against a negative stigma. She nurtures patients to overcome barriers, using evidence-based solutions, and believes early identification and treatment is key for successful recovery. Angela uses a collaborative approach, if available, to develop a treatment plan which includes the patient, family, therapist, and provider in order to seek the best outcome.
At Ascend, Angela will provide psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, brief psychotherapy, and psychotropic medication management. Her specialties include, but are not limited to, depression, anxiety, ADHD, sleep disorders, bipolar disorders, and schizophrenia.
